21 Days to Better Bible Reading

by Derek Leave a Comment

You don’t need to worry about reading your Bible all year. You just need to read it for 21 days. Let me explain.

Supposedly, a habit takes about 21 days to form. I’m not sure this is true. But regardless, there’s an important observation here for anyone trying to read the Bible every day: Start small.

Make a small goal. Don’t focus on reading the Bible for 365 days. Focus on reading the Bible for three weeks. Make it your goal to get through month one. Let the habit form. Find your rhythm.

But forget all about the whole journey. The whole journey will intimidate and overwhelm you. So start small.

“The journey of a thousands miles begins with one step.”

What one step do you need to take today in reading your Bible? Forget the year. Just think about today, your one step. Do you need to say no to something to create space to read? Do you need to slow down and take a deep breath? What does it look like to be successful today?

Think small. Take one step.
