Pastor John Piper is moving to Knoxville, TN.
Knoxnews.com reports:
Evangelical preacher, theologian and author John Piper, 66, recently told the Minnesota Star Tribune that he and his wife of 44 years, Noel, and their 17-year-old daughter Talitha will move to the Knoxville area in the spring for about a year while he works on his writing. The family plans to return to their home in Minneapolis, Minn., afterward.
I will be curious to see if this brings any opportunities, events, and/or meetings to Tennessee. We will see.
Either way, I’m glad Tennessee can extend some hospitality to a faithful pastor and his family.
Update: Piper recently made these remarks about his move:
For the first year, I’ll be working for Desiring God at a distance. The reason for this is to give the new leadership at Bethlehem greater freedom by putting 700 miles between me and the church. I have total confidence in this new pastoral team and want them to take responsibility without my intrusion or shadow. We will rent our Minneapolis house to missionaries on home assignment, and rent a house in Tennessee for the year.
