Doubting God

Derek 2 Comments

Is it easier to doubt God exists or believe He exists?

Many people would say doubting God is far easier, but one thinker says otherwise.

Timothy Keller (2008) writes:

“…Even as believers should learn to look for reasons behind their faith, skeptics must learn to look for a type of faith hidden within their reasoning. All doubts, however skeptical and cynical they may seem, are really a set of alternate beliefs.”

(p. xvii)

In other words, even the most skeptical, scientific thoughts rest on a set of beliefs about the way things are.

If this is the case, why do logical beings look at the evidence and both sides choose to take the harder path. A more accurate question would maybe be, why do they want to have no higher power controlling things, even when their view is inherently illogical. Mark

Right! When the debate goes this direction, it shows arguments are based on other concerns besides airtight logic.
