Weakness Upon Weakness

by Derek 3 Comments

Turns out
receiving “grace upon grace”
often looks like
receiving weakness
upon weakness.

If God’s power is
made perfect in weakness,
and this power-through-weakness
comes with his sufficient grace,
then I guess it makes sense:
weakness gestates,
mediates
grace.

Welcome weakness.

Reminds me of Rom 9:16-17 where Paul is referring to what God said to Moses about election, “So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. For the scripture says to Pharaoh, ‘For this reason I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.'”

Hi Adam! Welcome aboard! Thanks for the feedback. That’s an interesting cross-reference, with the power of God being displayed through wrath against Pharaoh and grace towards Israel, all directed by His sovereign will. A good reminder that the story, and its details and timing, are ultimately His.
