Autumn

by Derek 2 Comments

autumn
a season of remembrance
when we remember what was
when we remember what could have been
when we remember the spring buds and summer blossoms

autumn
a season of farewell
when we say farewell to what was
when we say farewell to what could have been
when we say farewell to promise and fullness

autumn
a season of grieving
when the earth groans
when the sun covers its face
when the trees weep and the fields put on sackcloth

autumn
a season of longing
when we long for eternal sunshine
when we long for everlasting life
when we long for forever green

autumn
the house of mourning
before the winter sleep
of death

Lord,
Spring
Hope.
